Finding Solstice During Shelter in Place with lululemon
I remember the first time I got a pair of lululemon leggings for Christmas and I felt like I had just struck gold. I asked everyone in my family for the Wunder Under black leggings and ended up with 5 pairs that I still have to this day. That was more than 10 years ago and today lululemon remains one of my go-to brands for working out, lounging around the house, or pairing with an investment piece for a dimensional look that I feel amazing in, and their pieces have gotten even better and have expanded so much since then.
The past few months have challenged us all - some in ways that we have already begun to appreciate the beauty in, and others that we will look back on and have gratitude for years from now despite the circumstances. I have so much gratitude for the increased opportunities to check in with my family, the access to so many more fitness classes, challenging myself with new recipes everyday, and taking the time to slow down. As a creative, I constantly find myself seeking new approaches to the mundane, everyday occurrences. Thanks to my love for self-help literature, I am learning to forgive myself, to be less hard on my work, and to embrace all of the feelings that come and go throughout this time.
As I’ve navigated through these weeks during the shelter in place order, I have found many of my routines changing. I sleep in later, my workout routine isn’t consistent - sometimes I workout twice a day, sometimes I don’t work out all week, and I incorporate a lot more activewear into my everyday outfits - sometimes pairing with jeans or a blouse, other times wearing as a set. I love seeing my workout clothes and sweats in a different light amidst the times, mixing and matching pieces that I would have otherwise kept together as sets, and no matter which route I take, lululemon is always my go-to for everything from high-performance compression leggings to loungewear I live in to swimwear that hugs me in all the right places.
This spring I went for a little refresh picking pieces that are unique to lululemon with things that they do better than any other brand -- like the Clear Intention Shirt that can be thrown on for pilates in your living room, or worn with a bralette for Zoom game night with your girls; the On The Fly Jogger that is my go-to pant for hanging around the house while feeling put together, or the Align Legging for when I want a pop of color on more active days. Lest I forget the upgrades we made to Christian’s wardrobe for staples for working from home to doing a mid-day boxing class like his favorite shorts and his go-to joggers that will transition seamlessly back to his routine when he’s back on photoshoots around the city hopping from location to location when we return to a version of normal as we knew it.
As we head into summer, I wanted to round up a few of Christian and my favorite lululemon pieces perfect for working at home, heading out for a socially distanced walk around the neighborhood for fresh air, or, my personal favorite - hot kitchen yoga (tune into one of lululemon’s virtual workout classes on their Instagram or their website and bring your yoga mat into your kitchen flowing while the banana bread bakes). And I can’t forget my favorite lululemon swimwear I prefer to wear on my terrace with a cocktail in hand and a board game to boot.
