The Best Studios on Classpass in NYC

By now you probably know that I am always in search of new workout classes, and that my fitness routine changes constantly. For that reason, I have been a dedicated Classpass user for over three years now! I love that with Classpass, you have different options for credit amounts depending on if you only want to go to a few classes per month or if you are relying on classes for all of your workouts, and you aren’t ever locked into one studio. While I do try new classes when someone recommends one, I definitely have my go-to studios that I am always searching when I book my classes each week, which I rounded up below broken down by amount of credits. I am in no way sponsored by or associated with Classpass, however, if you use my referral link (any of the clickable links above), you will receive 2 weeks free!

Lowest Credits: Generally classes in the 5-10 credit range

  • Goodtimes Yoga (Williamsburg, Brooklyn)

    • I recently went to Goodtimes Yoga for the first time ever and fell in love immediately. The studio is located between Greenpoint and Williamsburg and is so spacious with soaring ceilings, skylights, and perhaps most importantly - a disco ball! I loved how creative the flows were, challenging traditional vinyasa flows to a playlist not short of Fleetwood Mac. The class that I took was taught by Hilary Schnitz and she was amazing - I highly recommend taking her class if you go! The best part? All classes are only 6 credits.

  • BK Pilates (Tribeca, Flatiron, Williamsburg)

    • While New York Pilates is always my favorite pilates studio, sometimes you just run low on credits and have to improvise with new studios. I tried BK Pilates a few months ago for the first time, and while it is a no-frills studio compared to the NYP environment of natural aromas and greenery, every class that I have taken here has left me sore. Classes are anywhere from 6-11 credits, but may be as low as 4 credits if it is your first class there! Highly recommend Intense Pilates at the Flatiron location.

  • Fithouse (Union Square & Tribeca)

    • When I want a full-body workout and don’t want to go to the gym, Fithouse is my go-to studio. They have a bunch of different classes including hot yoga, barre, bounce (a trampoline class), and HIIT, and while I have only taken barre and HIIT here, I have loved both classes. HIIT is my go-to Fithouse class and I always feel challenged and very sore the next day. Classes are 6-10 credits, with the majority being in the 6-7 credit range - a great value in my opinion!!

Moderate Credits: 11-17 Credits

  • New York Pilates (Bowery, West Village, SoHo)

    • My absolute favorite studio in New York! Everytime I walk into a New York Pilates studio it feels like a treat. All three of the studio locations are so serene and spacious, but the West Village location takes the cake. Word has it this studio used to be a recording studio for artists like David Bowie. While classes are in the higher credit range, generally between 13-25, it is so worth it for a chiller class (Sculpt and Restore) or a higher intensity push (Burnout).

  • Shadowbox (DUMBO & Chelsea)

    • In general when I’m choosing a boxing class, I go for Rumble. That said, the Shadowbox DUMBO location is a 5 minute walk from me and a great workout, being the reason I have been frequenting it. In contrast to Rumble, this class is all on the bag which I love. My favorite instructor is Jino, and if you book in advance, you can book classes for as low as 8 credits, as high as 12 credits.

  • Solidcore (Several Locations)

    • Solidcore recently opened a studio around the corner from my apartment and offered highly discounted pricing for the opening. I love SLT but wanted something within walking distance (the nearest SLTs are Tribeca or Cobble Hill), so when I heard that Solidcore was also on a Megareformer (think of a pilates reformer with a few more bells and whistles to create a higher intensity workout), my interest instantly piqued. While reviews of Solidcore are polarizing, I personally love the class and constantly feel challenged by it in different ways. Solidcore classes are on the higher end of the classpass spectrum, with most classes at the DUMBO Studio being between 14-17 credits.

Most Credits: 18+ Credits

  • Barry’s Bootcamp (Several Locations)

    • Barry’s is your classic kick-in-the-ass class that leaves you feeling like you can take on any athletic endeavour. The class is split up between treadmill and floor (weights) but you can choose to double up on either for any class (highly recommend doing double floor, and don’t recommend doing double tread unless you are a running hardo). Classes can be as low as 16 credits, but are generally in the 23+ range, and definitely worth it if you want to challenge yourself.

  • SLT (Several Locations)

    • Similar to Solicore, SLT is a megareformer class that will work muscles you didn’t even know existed prior. If you like pilates but want more of a challenge, try SLT -- you will be shaking by the time you leave and sore for 3 days following, and it is worth every second (and every credit!). While SLT is generally about 25 credits, they have great intro packages outside of Classpass.

  • Rumble (Several Locations)

    • Because boxing is my cardio of choice, I have tried all of the big boxing studios in the city, and Rumble always ends up on top. The energy in the studios is contagious and the instructors are the most charismatic in the game. I love that Rumble (similar to Barry’s) splits the class half time on floor with weights, and half time on the bag boxing to get a true full-body workout. I have never been to a Rumble class that I didn’t love. Classes are 15+ credits, and there are several locations around the city (and now Brooklyn too!)
